SteamCMD Description:SteamCMD is the command line v. It wouldn't really serve any fuckin purpose at all if you don't have the game on steam, why would you be using Steam Workshop to begin with then? I've always just used Moddb/Nexus Mods for stuff that was off-steam or for Bethesda titles as all the good mods are on the Nexus (though some left due to some cringe stuff on NM's end so you have to go to a couple more 3rd party sites now). Most groups had their own modlist for how they liked to play so it made it super convenient vs having to manually install everything and make sure you didn't miss any. I used to play ARMA III which used SW heavily, you could just plug a list into the launcher and it would automatically grab all the needed mods, install, and configure them. Now, I haven't downloaded any mods through Steam but it kinda makes sense that they'd lock you out of downloading mods for games you haven't purchased on *their* platform, from their POV people downloading mods for free for games they haven't purchased must be piracy so yeah makes sense. Other than the few good games the community is extremely toxic and discouraging so it's better to avoid everything related to it, basically the norm when it comes to dealing with anything where gamers are. I honestly thought coming from Valve it was gonna be something better but it's plain terrible. The launcher uses a ridiculous amount of resources for apparently no reason because the UI isn't *that* complex to justify almost 1GB memory usage, every and I mean EVERY game you download gets you thru DirectX and vcredist installations even if you already have them installed, and the best: you have to PAY to be able to add friends?! LOL. I tried this platform and I can only say it SUCKS.
